Improving business environment for SMEs: MEPs to agree on changes to cross-border payment claims

Jennifer Baker is joined by Marjory Van den Broeke of the European Parliament’s press office to talk about changes to the cross-border payment claims system, due to be voted on by the Legal Affairs Committee on Thursday 16 April.

The proposals are designed to refine the system of cross-border payment claims used by small and medium sized enterprises. As it stands, the system has already succeeded in reducing the time and cost of making a claim but proposals are being discussed to raise the threshold for making a claim to €10,000. Other suggestions to amend the system include making payments online and being able to attend via video-conference.
