TTIP: Doors should not be closed prematurely, says Irish Presidency

On Friday 14 June, the Irish Presidency will call on EU Ministers to approve a mandate for the negotiation of a comprehensive trade and investment agreement with the United States, the so-called TTIP.

As discussions intensifies with some Member States, in particular France, that want to exclude audiovisual industries from the scope of the negotiations, Rory Montgomery, Irish Ambassador in charge of the issue in Brussels, spoke to viEUws about the need to find a balanced mandate.

 “I think the difficulty is to reflect these [cultural and language] protections but at the same time not to close doors too prematurely in these negotiations.”
