NSA spying scandal to effect TTIP, TFTP & Data Protection, argues Greens Group
Jennifer Baker is joined by Richard More O’Ferrall, spokesperson for the Greens Group, to discuss the NSA spying scandal and the effect on EU-US relations.
The Terrorist Finance Tracking Program (TFTP) is one of the first to be put in question, as the actions of the NSA ‘repudiates the agreement’, says Mr O’Ferrall. Furthermore, the Greens’ spokesperson shares the group’s opinion that it is time to take a pause on negotiations of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) as the U.S. ‘undermines the spirit, of which the EU has engaged in those negotiations’. Mr O’Ferrall also points to the group’s nomination of Edward Snowden for the Sakharov prize, honoring exceptional individuals who combat intolerance, fanaticism and oppression.
