“EU & US should get Russia on board to de-escalate Syrian and Crimean crises”, argues ALDE Group
Jennifer Baker is joined by Neil Corlett, spokesperson for the ALDE Group, to discuss the conflict in Syria – marking its third anniversary.
Corlett argues that even though the situation in Ukraine has taken the spotlight away, the conflict in Syria remains the worst humanitarian crisis that the world has seen since the Second World War – with half of the Syrian population displaced due to the war. According to the spokesperson for the ALDE Group, Putin is at the centre of both disputes and the EU and US should get Russia on board to de-escalate the Syrian and Crimean crises in a peaceful way. The “West should also guarantee humanitarian corridors for displaced Syrians and a no-fly zone inside Syria should be established”, Corlett concludes.
