Commissioner Dacian Ciolos on Food Security

Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development about agricultural policy

At the “Food for Everyone” conference we interview Dacian Ciolos to ask about Food Security. Commissioner gives his opinion on several issues:

– Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)
– Climate change
– CAP greening
– Fertile soil
– Novel foods

Dacian Ciolos: “We need to find a balance when we talk about competitiveness of our agriculture between economic competitiveness and ecologic competitiveness”

One of the main topics of the conference was a balance between securing home food market and trade of agri-food to poorer and developing counties. Representative of European Commission Dacian Ciolos stresses that trade of European agri-food includes quality food and processed food which should not have a negative effect for the local food production.
